Basbaas’s Somali Sauces
Hawa Hassan, the James Beard Award–winning author of In Bibi’s Kitchen (and fun fact: our first-ever Great Ones subject!), makes condiments inspired by her home country of Somalia. This variety pack includes her signature Tamarind Date Sauce and Coconut Cilantro Chutney — both a blend of fruits, spices, and herbs rooted in bold African flavors. Tamarind is great as a dip (served in Stir Crazy, of course); Coconut is nice to use as a finishing sauce for chicken or as a base for salad dressing.
